We believe that economic
development would damage the environmental and cultural heritage of the village
of Picinguaba and should therefore not be allowed.
APIS
plans consist of 2 main objectives:
1- Pro-environmental action:
through locally suitable techniques experienced at Pousada Picinguaba, we are
promoting practices such as composting, limited use of plastic, usage of
bio-degradable products.
The objective is to link those
practices with a successful eco-tourism within the village that comes as a
second economy after fishing.
2. Promote the idea that
Picinguaba should stay a protected area, and that economic growth and the
development of new constructions
is not the best solution for the future (The Serra do Mar National Park is
currently a zone where construction is prohibited).
